WHAT IS OUTLANDERS?
Outlanders was a Christian Outdoor Recreation group ran by Scott Giddens from 1991-2016. After 25 years, Scott retired from camping and dissolved the 501(c)3 non-profit organization. We were mostly "Headquartered" at Christ Fellowship (PBG) or Calvary Chapel Jupiter, but not officially "Sponsored" by either church. Neither supported us financially, only cooperated with me handing out flyers for my events.
SO WHAT CHURCH DO YOU PARTNER WITH NOW?
Officially, none. Scott has friends from the following churches: Calvary Fort Lauderdale, Town Center Church, Generation Church, Calvary Jupiter, Christ Fellowship, The Journey Church, Family Church, Morningside Church, Community Christian Church and others. (All pretty much mainstream, normal, contemporary churches. Nothing weird!)
Nearly all the singles groups are advertised as "40+", but if you're in your 30's and want to come, please do and invite your friends! Let's see which church can bring the most people. :-)
WHAT'S THE PLAN FOR THIS TRIP?
Lunch
In the past 5 years of going to Robbies, it was convenient to eat lunch right there. At this vendor, there are several restaurant near the boat dock including,
The Buzzard's Roost (https://www.buzzardsroostkeylargo.com/dinner-menu/) or Buttonwood Key Grille (https://buttonwoodgrill.info/)
Or, you can bring a lunch from and eat it on the boat.
Any foodies in the group are welcome to read the reviews of those two and other restaurants nearby and make a suggestion.
As a Christian group, no alcohol please, and no smoking or vaping and definitely no drugs!
Snorkeling
This tour is about 3.5 hours (1.5 hour water time), makes 3 stops, 2 shallow water (Grecian Rocks, Banana Reef, North Dry Rocks, Gorilla Reef) and one deeper stop (Christ statue). If you went with us before 2021, this is the trip that Key's Diver would take us on.
After snorkeling, you can rinse off and put on some dry clothes before going in to the restaurant. Bring an extra $5-$10 for the crew tip.
Dinner
It has been suggested that we pick a bayside restaurant with a sunset view rather than stick with tradition. (Hopefully one with air conditioning that has a dock we can go out to for the sunset.) Sundowners was just fine for that, we had a large group table and then went outside for the sunset. Bring CASH just incase they don't do separate checks.
As a Christian group, no alcohol please, and no smoking or vaping and definitely no drugs!
Extra Spending Money
In addition to the snorkeling, plan on tipping the crew $5-$10. You'll need about $100-$150 for 2 restaurant meals, snacks, and gas money for the car you ride in. We've encountered several restaurants in The Keys that don't split checks, only one check per table. So it's helpful to have a stash of CASH, including a wad of 20's, a $10, $5, and five $1's if they don't provide separate checks. Some will, some won't, but being prepared for either way makes it go smoother.
